Prof. Mamudu A. Akudugu

Profile

Prof. Mamudu A. Akudugu currently serves as both the President of the University for Development Studies (UDS) Branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG-UDS) and the National President. Before his election as Branch and National President in October 2023, Mamudu was the UTAG-UDS Treasurer from October 2019 to September 2023.

Prof. Akudugu is currently the Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (IIR) of the UDS. Other positions occupied by Mamudu before assuming the Directorship of IIR include the Head of University Consultancy Services Unit, Deputy Director of the IIR, Head of Department of Research and Grants Support, and Director of the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Partnerships Services (DRIPS), all of UDS.

He holds a PhD in Livelihoods (International and Rural Development) from the University of Reading, UK and MPhil in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana. He is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics and a former Vice President (Administration) of the Ghana Association of Agricultural Economists (GAAE). Prof. Akudugu is a proud alumnus of the US Department of State Fulbright Scholar in Residence (SIR) Programme and Commonwealth Scholar. He is the National Coordinator of the Ghana Inclusive Development Research Network (GIDRN). Prof. Akudugu brings to his role a wealth of experiences anchored on transformative and accountable leadership

Dr. Eliasu Mumuni

Profile

Dr Eliasu Mumuni is the National Secretary for UTAG and the University for Development Studies (UDS) UTAG Branch Secretary. Previously, he served as the UTAG UDS Secretary from 2019-2023. Dr Mumuni is a Senior Lecturer and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS) of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale-Ghana and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Appalachian State University (ASU) in Boone, North Carolina-USA. He has been the Head of the Department of Communication, Innovation and Technology (CIT) and held several other academic positions within the University. Before joining the University, he was a Senior Agricultural Officer with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) in Kumasi. He has over 20 years of public service experience as a communications expert and an agriculturalist. Dr Mumuni holds a PhD in Communication studies and knowledge management from the University of Nottingham, UK/Malaysia and a PhD in Agricultural Extension from North-West University, South Africa. Professionally, Dr Mumuni is a member of the Communication Educators Association of Ghana (CEAG), the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) and the South African Society for Agricultural Extension (SASAE). He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and is currently the lead editor of Communicative Perspective on Ghana’s 2020 Electoral Politics by Palgrave Springer Publishers for January 2024.
